Regional Ambulance Service, Inc. first began operation in August, 1983. This company is a non-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors.

It was in a letter dated April 29, 1982. The local ambulance service of Rutland made a stunning announcement that it would soon be discontinuing its emergency ambulance services. Realizing the consequences of being without such a service in the community, a group of serious-minded, dedicated people organized a steering committee to develop a plan to form a Regional Ambulance Service. They developed a plan to provide a high quality ambulance service to an 11 town area on a 24-hour basis, staffed by paid, qualified emergency medical personnel.

Since that time Regional Ambulance has grown. Regional Ambulance Service, Inc. is now the largest ambulance service in Vermont. The service has been licensed as a Paramedic service since 1990 and provides Advanced Life Support to the citizens we serve in 12 communities. The service has 7 ambulances and a qualified staff of over 50 state certified Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics. Regional Ambulance responded to 8,975 calls last year.

Our motto "Serving People First with Pride, Proficiency and Professionalism" is demonstrated by our employee's commitment to continuing EMS training. Each year we have special training in Critical Care Paramedicine, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, Prehospital Advanced Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Emergency Vehicle Operator, Bloodborne Pathogens and a variety of continuing education programs. Our professional staff is extremely capable and dedicated. R.A.S. draws its strength from the skill and dedication of its staff. We believe that in the future this source of strength will continue to be our most important asset.

Monthly CPR classes are taught at Regional Ambulance. Each year, through the R.A.S. Training Center, over 1,300 people are certified in CPR. Tours, lectures, demonstrations, and CPR classes are available for the general public. For further information call 773-1746.

The public is encouraged to visit and talk to the employees and Administrator at our Stratton Road facility. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions concerning our service.

We are proud of our accomplishments and look forward to serving you in the future. The Board of Directors, Administration and employees of Regional Ambulance Service, Inc. will continue striving to provide the highest quality of emergency ambulance care at the lowest possible cost to all of the citizens we serve.
